Society of St Vincent de Paul
Scotland’s 2000 SSVP volunteer members provide support and assistance to people across the country on a daily basis. This includes visiting those who are lonely or ill, at home, in hospital, in prison. They also work in areas such as Youth Development and Disaster Fund Support.
Our Lady’s has a standing collection for SSVP, and we have supported their work for many years.

HMP Edinburgh – Gifts for Children at Christmas
Each year Our Lady’s participates in a scheme, run by Officers at HMP Edinburgh, to provide gifts for prisoners’ children.
Every child that visits the Visitors Centre during the time leading up to Christmas receives a gift. In 2024 for example, 328 children from 126 families had a present to open on Christmas morning.
Where possible, every child receives a toy, an activity gift, and a book. As the prison population grows, so will these numbers.
Warm Clothing for the Homeless
Each Christmas we donate (new) warm clothing for distribution through various local groups to the homeless.
