welcome words from our
parish priest
You are very welcome to this website.
Modern communication technology means that we are continually finding new ways of spreading the Gospel and building up the Kingdom of God. I hope this website will play its part in achieving this in the weeks and months ahead, helping us grow in our faith, understanding and love of God.
May God bless you and those dear to you.
Fr. Francis Ututo (SMMM).
ABOUT FATHER FRANCIS UTUTO (SMMM)
Fr. Francis Ututo (SMMM) came to Our Lady’s in 2022.
He is a member of the Religious Congregation of the Sons of Mary, Mother of Mercy (SMMM).
The SMMM was founded in October 1970 by Bishop Anthony Gogo Nwedo, C.S.Sp, in Umuahia, Nigeria. Today, the members of this Congregation serve not only in Nigeria, but in also in Cameroon, Ghana, Canada, USA, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the UK.
The Charism of the SMMM is as follows:
- Bearing witness to the mercy of God. This mercy is expressed in compassion, forgiveness and kindness.
- Mercy as Compassion: our compassion is based on the example of the good Samaritan who after helping the wounded victim also provided for his future needs.
- We undertake the apostolate of loving and caring for the spiritually, intellectually and physically poor, and the under privileged, by working in homes, and teaching in schools.
- Mercy as Forgiveness: As brothers, it is absolutely essential that we have a forgiving heart, excusing one another’s faults in charity. (Mt. 18:21-22)
- Mercy as kindness: The basis for our kindness is the injunction of Christ to give because of Him (Mt. 9:4).
The spirit of the congregation is charity, humility, prayer, penance, and, abandonment to the will of God. We strive to imitate Christ by our way of living. Our spirituality centres on “humility,” just as Christ who emptied himself and became man, and who urges us to emulate his meekness and humility (Mt. 11:29).
Fr. Francis is also a very good singer!
