PARISH UPDATES:
Catechism classes.
The last session for this year’s catechism classes commenced on Saturday, 3rd May. This Class is for the candidates preparing for the sacrament of the first Holy Communion. The classes for those registered are at 3pm at the presbytery of St Cuthbert’s Parish.
2025 Confirmation.
His Grace, Archbishop Leo will be administering the sacrament of Confirmation on the candidates of our Parishes (St. Cuthbert’s Slateford Road & Our Lady Mother of the Church, Currie hill) and those of St Joeseph’s Broom house, St John Ogilvie Sighthill, St. Cuthberts primary school and St. Joseph’s primary School on Friday the 23rd of May, (this week) at 7.pm. We are all invited. The candidates should please be at St. Cuthbert’s on Tuesday the 20th of May at 11.30 for rehearsals.
Pentecost 2025.
Our parish, St Cuthbert’s R.C. Slateford Road will be hosting the 2025 Pentecost mass on the 8th of June at 2pm prompt. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, praise and worship, ministration and holy mass. There will be light refreshment in the parish hall afterwards.
Prayer for Pope Leo XIV:
Pope Leo XIV presides over the mass of inauguration of his Petrine Ministry in St Peter’s square at 9.00am this Sunday Morning. We all join in prayer that the Lord will give him the grace to be a true Shepherd to us and authentic witness to Christ Jesus.
Lourdes 2025.
The Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes for the Holy Year 2025 takes place from 11-18 July. For more details please visit www.edinburgh-lourdes.com/lourdes25
Annual Parish BBQ and Quiz:
This will take place on 30th May at St. Cuthbert’s Church Hall. Great food and fun to be had with a quiz, bingo and a raffle. Tickets on sale from Sunday 4th May. All profits go towards our 2 chosen charities of FACE (Fight against Cancer Edinburgh) and the St. Jude’s Catholic school project in Nigeria. Come along and join the fun and help us fundraise.

Mass Bookings.
We are reminded that the booking of mass for our special intentions, wedding anniversaries, Birthday thanksgiving, Death anniversaries of our loved ones and general prayers is highly recommended. The mass stipends (Donations) are part of our contribution towards the good of the church and support of our priest.

The month of May is a special month here in our parish, traditionally, we bring our flowers every Sunday for the decoration of our lady’s altar and we would usually sing our special hymn in honour of our Lady.
CALL TO GLORY
The Late Patrick James McGurk. (RIP). Let us pray for the happy repose of the soul of the late Patrick (Patsy) who died on Sunday, the 11th of May at the age of 85. His funeral is on Wednesday 28th of May at Our Lady’s parish, time is 10am.
