Annual Parish BBQ and Quiz:
This will take place on 30th May at St. Cuthbert’s Church Hall. Great food and fun to be had with a quiz, bingo and a raffle. Tickets on sale from Sunday 4th May. All profits go towards our 2 chosen charities of FACE (Fight against Cancer Edinburgh) and the St. Jude’s Catholic school project in Nigeria. Come along and join the fun and help us fundraise.
Catechism classes.
The last session for this year’s catechism classes will commence next weekend (Saturday, 1st May). This Class will be for the candidates preparing for the sacrament of the first Holy Communion. The class starts at 3pm at the presbytery of St Cuthbert’s Parish.
Assisted Suicide Public Meeting – Edinburgh Southern Parish
MSP Daniel Johnson is hosting a discussion on assisted suicide: Wednesday 7 May, 6.30pm at The Nucleus Building, King’s Buildings, Larch Lecture Theatre, EH9 3FG. With a vote due at Holyrood, it’s vital we show that the vulnerable need assisted living – not assisted suicide. Dr Gillian Wright, a former palliative care doctor, will be speaking. We are reminded that the booking of mass for our special intentions, wedding anniversaries, Birthday thanksgiving, Death anniversaries of our loved ones and general prayers is highly recommended. The mass stipends (Donations) are part of our contribution towards the good of the church and support of our priest.
May Devotion to Our Lady.
The month of May is a special month here in our parish, traditionally, we bring our flowers every Sunday for the decoration of our lady’s altar and we would usually sing our special hymns in honour of our Lady. So from next week, let us bring our flowers.
CALL TO GLORY
The late Patricia Donaldson. Let us also pray for the happy repose of the soul of the Late Patricia (PAT) Donaldson who has just recently passed onto glory. Her funeral will be on the Tuesday, 6th of May at 11am. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.
