Sacrament Of Confirmation

On Friday, 8th May 2026, nine children from St. Cuthbert’s and Our Lady’s Parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church a beautiful and prayerful Mass celebrated by Archbishop Leo Cushley.
This was a joyful and significant milestone during in the faith journey of these young people as they were strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and confirmed in their Catholic faith.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the children and their families on this special occasion.
Our sincere thanks also go to Mrs Blanca Nieto and Mrs Irene MacLean for their dedication, guidance, and support in helping the children prepare for this Sacrament. Their care and commitment throughout the preparation journey have been greatly appreciated by the parish community.
May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and bless all those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Apostolic Blessing

We are delighted and deeply honoured to share the joyful news that Our Lady Mother of the Church Parish has received an Apostolic Blessing from His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the Holy Year 2025.
This special blessing has been granted to Rev. Fr. Francis Ututo (SMMM) and all the parishioners of our church, invoking a fresh outpouring of heavenly graces and entrusting our parish family to the loving protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The message encourages us that, through the witness of generous and faithful hearts, the flame of hope may continue to shine brightly in our world.
We give thanks to God for this wonderful blessing and invite all parishioners to join us in prayer during this Jubilee Year, that our community may continue to grow in faith, hope, and charity.
May Our Lady, Mother of the Church, intercede for us always.
60th Anniversary
Thanksgiving Celebration
The parish community of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, Currie, joyfully celebrated its 60th Anniversary Thanksgiving on 15th March 2026—a milestone marking six decades of faith, fellowship, and service. This special occasion brought together parishioners, clergy, and friends in a spirit of gratitude and celebration.
The Thanksgiving Mass was solemnly officiated by His Grace, the Most Reverend Leo Cushley, Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, whose presence made the occasion especially meaningful. Archbishop Leo was joined by co-celebrants Fr. Francis Ututo SMMM and Fr. Malachy Okonkwo SMMM (respectively, Parish Priest and Assistant Priest of Our Lady’s). Additionally, Fr. Aidan Cannon and Fr. Ian Wilson, assisted Archbishop Leo during the Mass.
Following the Mass, the celebrations continued in the Gibson Craig Hall in Currie, where the community gathered in a joyful and festive atmosphere. Here we were pleased that Church of Scotland Ministers, Rev Roy Henderson (Currie and Balerno Parish) and Rev Callum Macfarlane-Grieve (Pentland Parish, Juniper Green) were able to join us in our celebration.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the musicians and children whose performances added warmth and vibrancy to the occasion, making it a truly memorable day for all.
We were also delighted to receive special greetings from Fr. Tom Molly, who had spent many years in our parish prior to his retirement, shared his congratulatory message through a video, joined us in spirit for this significant celebration.
As we give thanks for the past 60 years, we look forward with hope and faith to the future, continuing our journey together as a living and loving parish community.
Our new parish website, 15 February 2026
Fr Francis thanked Carla and Rick for the great work they had done to create a new parish website for Our Lady, Mother of the Church. On behalf of the Parish Council and all parishioners, he was delighted to present a token of our thanks to Carla and Rick.
Nativity Play, 2025
On 14th December 2025, our church was filled with joy as 16 children shared the story of Jesus’s birth in our Nativity Play. From the narration to the singing and acting, every child played their part with dedication and pride. With their bright smiles, brave voices, and loving hearts, they helped us celebrate God’s gift of love and hope, reminding everyone of the wonder and joy of Christmas.
Our Lady's parishioners on Pilgrimage to Rome - November 2025
Between 10th and 14th November 2025, six parishioners from Our Lady’s parish made a pilgrimage to Rome which had been organised by Fr Francis Ututo SMMM. They were joined by parishioners from several other parishes, and were guided on their pilgrimage by a priest who was living in Rome, Fr Jude.
The 2025 Rome Pilgrimage was focused on the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” offering a special time for grace, indulgence, and spiritual renewal, with key events including the opening of the Holy Doors at St. Peter’s Basilica and other Papal Basilicas.
The group stayed at at a cosy establishment run by nuns, and received excellent hospitality. The tour included the pilgrims visiting the Holy Doors, (St Peter’s Basilica, Santa Maria Maggiore, St Paul Outside the Walls, and St John Lateran). The pilgrims also took a train journey to Assisi, to visit the Basilicas of St Francis and St Clare, and the shrine to St Carlo Acutis. A great highlight of the visit was to witness Pope Leo XIV as he was driven around Vatican Square in his Popemobile. At the end of their pilgrimage the parishioners were each presented with a commemorative certificate. The visit to Rome was a great experience for our group, both from a social and spiritual perspective.
Angela's Camino Francés - Summer 2025
The Camino Francés is the most famous route of the Camino de Santiago, a centuries-old Christian pilgrimage leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain, where the remains of Saint James the Apostle are said to rest. Stretching about 780 kilometers (485 miles) from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France across northern Spain, the journey combines spiritual reflection, cultural exploration, and physical challenge. Pilgrims walk for many reasons with faith, a sense of adventure, healing, or self-discovery, passing through beautiful landscapes, historic towns, and centuries of European heritage along the way.
