Assist us to live, not to die.

Parishioners are reminded that the Assisted Suicide Bill has been working its way through the Westminster Parliament over the last few months with the upcoming Third Reading vote due on Friday 25th April. As a consequence of opposition by ourselves and others up and down the UK, more MP’s have expressed reservations about the bill or might reconsider their positions and vote against it at the third reading. Please take one of the opposition cards: Assist us to live, not to die, and send it to your MP with your name, address, and postcode. The card will need a standard letter stamp.

Special Collection:

The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary will be visiting our Parishes on the weekend of 26th/27th April. They willcbe soliciting for our assistance in their work of charity. As a result, there will be a special second collection and we are encouraged to kindly support them.

Chrism Mass.

The mass of Chrism in the Archdiocese will be celebrated on Tuesday of Holy Week (15 April) at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh at 7.00 pm. At this Solemn Mass, Archbishop Cushley will bless the Oils to be used in Parish celebration of the sacraments for the year ahead, while priests renew the promises made at ordination. All are welcome as we prepare for the paschal Triduum in the lead up to Easter Sunday.

Mass Bookings.

We are reminded that the booking of mass for our special intentions, wedding anniversaries, Birthday thanksgiving, Death anniversaries of our loved ones and general prayers is highly recommended. The mass stipends (Donations) are part of our contribution towards the good of the church and support of our priest.

SSVP Healing Mass and Party:

We sincerely thank Fr Francis for celebrating our Healing Mass in December. We also thank all of the parishioners who helped us in so many different ways: preparing the hall, making & donating wonderful food, helping on the day with preparations, organising and tidying up, along with the music, songs and jokes. You all helped make it a wonderful gathering, thank you very much. Watch this space for our next get-together!

Lenten charity.

We will be collecting for the local food bank as part of our Almsgiving for the Lenten season. There will be a Big Box at the back of the Church.

Church Cleaning.

We are planning a Big Clean of Our Lady’s, on Monday 14th of April from 9.30. Although we have a regular ‘clean team’, any help is appreciated as it gives us a chance to do a deeper clean, including washing all the floors, pews, etc. Everyone is welcome – we already have two male members of our regular team. It is a sociable and enjoyable way to be part of caring for our lovely Church. Coffee will be available! If you would like to help in any way, please contact Mary Cook 07545849626.

Blessings to you, your families and those who are dear to you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
